Sever's Disease

Every kid at some point will go through growing pains. Serer's Disease is the most common cause of heel pain in children, especially those who play sports and exercise regularly. Sever's disease is also known as calcaneal apophysitis when the growth plate in the back of the heel becomes inflamed. 

Causes

  • Growth spurts
  • Repetitive stress
  • Poorly cushioned shoes
  • Tight Achilles tendon

Symptoms

  • Heel pain
  • Mild swelling at the heel
  • Limping or walking on toes
