There are different case levels of metatarsalgia that one can have. If a mild case is present, yes It can heal on its own with proper at-home treatment like rest, ice, and over-the-counter pain relief. However, if a severe case is present with persistent pain and discomfort, there is a chance it will not heal on its own. This type of case would require medical attention to be treated properly. The treatments may include footwear changes, custom orthotics, or physical therapy.
