That hard bump on your foot or heel may be a bone spur. Bone spurs, or osteophytes are bony growths that develop along the edges of the bones, often in response to joint damage or pressure. 

Bone spurs are typically caused by prolonged stress or damage to the bones and joints. Common symptoms can be pain and tenderness when weight is put on the foot, or a bump may be felt in the area. 

Treatment Options:

  • Pain relievers
  • Orthotics
  • Physical therapy
  • Corticosteroid injections
  • Surgery (only in severe cases)
